Roobet Joins Engine Network: New Opportunities for Giro Games
For an independent game studio, a new distribution opportunity matters long before a game appears in another casino lobby. It can influence which ideas enter production, how a portfolio develops, and the partnerships a team can build around its work. Roobet joining Engine Network gives developers working with Stake Engine a reason to revisit those decisions.
Engine’s public announcement identifies Roobet as the first operator in the network. Developers can choose a release route on Stake alone or on Stake together with Engine Network. The page also describes Roobet as being in a testing phase during the launch period. For Giro Games, this is a meaningful development: the technical ecosystem in which we build can become a route to a broader operator audience.
Why Engine Network matters for independent game developers
Creating an original slot takes a considerable commitment before distribution begins. Mathematics, game design, illustration, animation, sound, interface development and testing all have to come together in one coherent experience. A small studio needs that work to have a viable path to market.
Each additional operator can introduce another integration, commercial discussion and set of launch requirements. A shared distribution platform can reduce some of that repeated work. The practical benefit is the possibility of spending more of a studio’s resources on its games while using an established technical foundation to explore additional channels.
That also makes distribution a design-stage question. A studio can consider whether a concept suits an exclusive release or a wider operator strategy while its scope, production budget and release plan are still taking shape.
How the studio, Engine, Stake and Roobet fit together
The studio creates the game. Engine provides the platform for review, hosting and distribution. Stake is the operator through which Engine games have reached players; Roobet adds the first external operator route presented through Engine Network. These are distinct roles, and keeping them clear helps explain what is changing.
At the technical level, the Engine integration documentation separates game outcomes from the operator’s wallet responsibilities. The remote game server handles game results, while the operator’s wallet remains the system of record for player funds. A common connection between those systems is part of what makes distribution through a network practical.
The opportunity is a broader release route. It does not mean that every existing Engine game, or every Giro Games title, automatically becomes available on Roobet. Individual releases still need the appropriate distribution choice, preparation and confirmation.
What is Roobet?
Roobet is an online casino and sports betting brand that dates its launch to 2019. Its official company page identifies it as a brand and division of Raw Entertainment B.V. Its offering brings together third-party games, its own titles and sports betting.
Roobet’s public product introduction describes slots, live casino and house games, with cryptocurrency and fiat payment options. For a developer, the relevant point is the operator context: a game enters a catalogue with its own presentation, discovery paths and product expectations.
We see this as an opportunity to introduce original work to another operator’s audience and learn where particular concepts fit. A presence in a larger distribution ecosystem still has to be earned through a strong game, reliable delivery and a useful relationship with the platform and operator.
What wider casino game distribution can offer
More paths to the right audience
An original game may have a distinctive theme, pace or feature structure that resonates differently across catalogues. An additional operator creates another setting in which that identity can find an audience. For studios, this can make it more practical to develop a varied portfolio instead of assuming that every project needs to suit the same storefront.
A longer horizon for original worlds
A strong visual world takes time to build. Characters, symbols, animation language and sound should support the game’s mechanics and remain recognisable together. Broader distribution can give a studio more reasons to invest in that creative foundation, maintain it carefully and prepare it for different languages and devices.
The benefit is potential rather than a guaranteed return. A wider route creates more possibilities for a game’s useful life; quality and the conditions of each release determine what follows.
More value from experience already gained
Teams already familiar with Engine have knowledge they can carry forward: how to prepare a game, diagnose technical issues and organise a release. A shared platform can make that experience useful across more than one destination. The remaining work still matters, including operator testing, mobile performance, interface behaviour and support after launch.
Better conversations with partners
A studio with a clear catalogue and a credible release process can have more specific discussions with operators. Which game suits their audience? What makes it distinctive? What assets and support will be available? A network can create the connection; the studio’s preparation gives that connection substance.
More flexibility across the portfolio
Different games can justify different release strategies. A flagship project may benefit from concentrated promotional support, while another concept may be better suited to wider distribution. More operator routes can reduce reliance on a single storefront, although a shared technical platform remains a common dependency. Portfolio planning should account for both.
Exclusivity and network distribution involve a real choice
Engine presents two routes with different commercial and promotional conditions. Its exclusive Stake option receives stronger promotional treatment. The network route expands the available operator path with reduced promotional support on Stake. Studios therefore need to weigh the value of wider availability against the value of concentrated visibility.
The network page also says that the distribution route selected at first launch is final, while network participation allows a choice of operators. That makes the initial release decision significant. A studio should confirm the current offer and the applicable agreement for each game before committing.
Our view is that this decision belongs alongside the game’s creative brief and production plan. Audience fit, launch support and long-term maintenance are part of the same business case.
Understanding the economics behind the opportunity
More distribution channels do not automatically mean proportionally more revenue. Engine’s public pages describe different commercial parameters for the exclusive and network routes, and distinguish revenue calculations based on actual gaming results from a turnover-based approach.
The payments documentation explains the difference between a share of actual gross gaming revenue and a calculation using expected gross gaming revenue. A percentage based on expected GGR is not the same as that percentage of total stakes. Neither should be treated as a promise of a fixed return regardless of a game’s activity.
For a studio, a useful assessment starts with the applicable rate, its calculation base and the current contractual terms. It then considers production cost, adaptation, ongoing support and how each operator fits the game. Distribution is valuable when the resulting relationship is sustainable for the people making and maintaining the product.
What this means for Giro Games
Giro Games develops original slots with mathematics, art, animation, sound and HTML5 production handled within our team. Midas Golden Era, Neon Cash and Sugar Space represent different creative directions in our released catalogue. Working on them has given us practical experience that we can bring to future projects and distribution discussions.
Our preparation for a broader operator environment starts with the game itself. Clear rules, readable interfaces, localisation, performance on mobile devices and reliable behaviour throughout a session all become more valuable when a title is intended for different settings. Documentation, launch assets and support planning deserve the same attention.
Our publicly presented upcoming projects include Neon Loot Drop, Candy Grand Prix, Zeus Storm Era and Satyr Reveal Era. We are considering the network’s development as part of that continuing work. Specific titles, destinations and launch dates will be shared once confirmed; our game catalogue contains the current project statuses.
How we see the longer-term prospects
The first external operator is an important test of how a development platform works as a distribution network. If this phase succeeds and further operators join, independent teams could gain more partner choice while retaining a common technical foundation. That prospect should be judged through actual connections and releases as they happen.
What interests us most is the chance to build an original catalogue consistently: create recognisable games, find suitable destinations, and carry the lessons of each launch into the next project. A studio grows through the quality of those repeated results.
A note from the Giro Games team
We are pleased to see Engine expanding and welcome the possibilities that Roobet’s arrival brings. For our team, it is a reason to look further ahead, develop ambitious ideas and continue investing in games with a clear identity.
We are already preparing for new releases and an expansion of our partnerships. That means continuing production, preparing for additional requirements and exploring opportunities with partners. We want more people to discover Giro Games through polished, recognisable work that reflects the contribution of our whole team.
Thank you to everyone following the studio’s progress. We will share confirmed news about future releases and new destinations here on the blog. If you represent an operator, platform or studio and would like to discuss working together, contact Giro Games.
